Operational Security Best Practices Webinar with IrishAngels

Apr 4, 2022 7:12:01 AM

On Wednesday, April 6th Kurtis Minder, GroupSense CEO, will provide an overview of Operational Security and best practices to institute in hybrid work environments to the IrishAngels.

Operational Security (OpSec) is a risk management process that provides guidance on how to view operations from the perspective of an adversary in order to protect sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.

OpSec is a five step process that includes:
  1. Identification of Critical information
  2. Analysis of Threats
  3. Analysis of Vulnerabilities
  4. Assessment of Risk
  5. Application of Appropriate OpSec Measures

Just as Hansel and Gretel left a trail of breadcrumbs behind, we can unintentionally open ourselves (and the organizations we work for) to breaches by exposing data in areas that we perceive as safe. For example, think of the last sensitive conversation you've had at a coffee shop, on a train with a colleague, or on the conference call you took on your apartment balcony... What did you say? What breadcrumb did you leave behind for someone to latch onto?

On Kurtis' webinar, he will discuss:
  • What is OpSec?
  • The pandemic shift from the "safe" office to non-office environments
  • And lastly, OpSec basics, which will include company security, how to be a good digital citizen, and to always use common sense

This event is only open to IrishAngels investment companies.

Operational SecurityAbout the IrishAngels

The IrishAngels was founded in 2012 as an angel network affiliated with Notre Dame*. IrishAngels is headquartered in Chicago.

They believe in people and process. From their investors to their team members to their founders they fund, they are focused on building a community of amazing people. Angel investing and venture capital is a relationship business, and one of their core differentiators is how they leverage their extensive Notre Dame network to provide value to their portfolio companies. They make valuable connections for their companies, mostly to prospective customers and other VC firms, but they field all types of requests to help their portfolio companies flourish.

As founders themselves, they have learned a lot from building this investment firm. They have implemented effective processes for deal flow, due diligence, and helping their companies post-investment, allowing them to move quickly and offer a high-quality product to founders and investors.
